Choosing Your MP3 Players

Mp3

By Indra Jusuf

At present, there are a lot of brands and models of mp3 players available in the market.  Before you buy one, here are a few things to consider:

Memory Capacity

At this time, mp3 players usually come with a standard of 512Mb – 40Gb of memory or even more.  Just to give you a big picture about mp3 memory capacity, 40Gb mp3 players can store more than 1000 hours of music, more than ten thousand of pictures, and more than 100 hours of video.  It is nice to have an mp3 player with huge memory capacity, however, you might want to compare the price.  Since bigger memory mean more expensive.  You need to consider if you really need 40Gb because sometimes the price is more expensive.  Some people usually never use up all the memory anyway.

In addition to the memory capacity, there are other things you might want to consider before buying a player such as supported formats, battery life, features and also esthetic.

Supported Formats

You need to understand what file format you often use and what format the player supports such as .mp3, .wav, .wma.  Most of the time, if you have to convert your files to a different format because you player does not support the original format, it usually reduces the quality of the music.

Battery Life

Some mp3 players’ battery only stands for 2 hours while the other can stand for 14 hours.  Depending on your needs, if you usually are away from the power outlet for a long time then you want a player if a long battery life.

Other Features and Esthetic

Digital Camcorder

Camcorder

A camcorder is no longer just a camcorder. In fact, most models are now known as digital camcorders and are capable of not only capturing audio and video, but still images as well. A digital camcorder is popular, in part, because of its versatility in being able to capture audio and video while doubling as a digital camera. Conceivably, owners could use these products to capture family moments on film and use the digital camera aspect to photograph products for placement on eBay. While this is merely an example, the versatility of a digital camcorder is undeniable.

A digital camcorder delivers improved audio and video quality as opposed to older models, which recorded video in analog form. This earlier form of video storage, while effective, proved to lose quality with age and begin to show a grainy texture. These deteriorating effects do not occur with a digital camcorder because, with these devices, it is literally an all or nothing effect. Either the entire data, or none of it, is readable.

The earlier camcorder featured a VHS-compatible videotape whereas the digital camcorder often is accompanied by a connector, which is used to transfer the data to a computer or television. If the data is placed on a computer, it can be edited, converted and/or copied with the proper software. Many amateur filmmakers, in fact, use their computers and a ditigal camcorder to create their latest film.

A digital camcorder can be used in a number of ways, including home or business use. Home videos may include a wedding, graduation, family vacation, birthday, anniversary, family reunion or capturing special childhood moments. Members of the media may use a digital camcorder to record an unfolding news story or to conduct interviews. As mentioned previously, a digital camcorder may also be used in the production of an amateur film. Because of their many features, these are ideal for low-budget films.

Tips for buying used iPods

What to look for when buying a used iPod.

The resale value of used iPods is pretty good for sellers looking to unload older iPod models. Refurbished iPods are also sold by authorized Apple resellers and Apple themselves.

But whether you are buying from someone on Amazon or eBay or buying a used iPod from Apple or an authorized vendor, you need to consider certain things before shelling out your hard earned cash.

Functionality:

Does the iPod work? This might seem silly, but iPods are often sold in non-working condition for parts. Even functioning used iPods might not be fully functional. Be sure to read the seller details about the iPod’s controls, powering on and off, connectivity, screen visibility, etc.

Battery:

This might just be the most important thing to consider when buying a used iPod. iPod batteries, like all rechargeable batteries, will lose the ability to hold full charges and will eventually die.

Does the battery in the iPod work? Is it the original battery or a new battery? If it is a new battery when was it installed? These are important questions to ask before purchasing an iPod. The price to replace an iPod battery, even if you do itself, may prove to be close to the price of a new iPod when you consider the price paid for the used iPod as well.

Accessories:

What is included with the used iPod? Things like headphones and cases can make the purchase a slightly better choice but other accessories (or lack of them) could be a deal breaker. Does the iPod come with a USB cable for connecting to the computer? If not you will need to purchase one separately or spend even more for a universal dock.

Long Lasting Mp3 Batteries

Quite similar to the change from Walkmans to CD players to MP3 players, MP3 batteries have also come a long way. It is so easy today to carry your music with you every where you go with a MP3 player that helps you take along all your sound and music files on a small handheld device. Once MP3 players gained popularity, the demand for the old AA batteries has reduced. For today’s MP3 players, MP3 batteries are much in demand.

Batteries for MP3 players need to be powerful and the new age Lithium Ion batteries are used for most players. These MP3 batteries last much longer than their traditional counterparts and are perfect for running any programs for longer periods as well as for playing music. These Li-Ion MP3 batteries are lightweight and can run upto 18 hours at a stretch without the need for recharging.

MP3 players today are designed in a way that they can be up and running for hours when you are on the go. Most players feature adaptors as well allowing you to charge them with your car’s AC adaptor. Some come with additional battery pack that you can use when the battery runs out. Then there are models from some manufacturers that come with wall chargers that can be simply plugged in. Some brands like Compaq come with portable chargers that go with you!

There are various MP3 players out there today and MP3 batteries that are compatible with them depend on the brand and the player model. When you are out looking for replacement MP3 batteries, it is essential that you are familiar with all relevant information so that you do not end up ordering the wrong battery. If you end up with wrong MP3 batteries, it could damage your player. Whichever player you own – a Sony, Dell, Audiovox or iPod, make sure you know about the kind of MP3 batteries you require.

Product Life Cycle Management Analysis: Apple IPod

The Product Life Cycle Management Analysis is based upon the Introductory, Growth, Maturity and Decline stages of the Apple IPod, a portable player launched in 2001. Objectives here were to give the program shape, provide intent and target strategies to reach the consumers. Apples strategy was to release a fun product wrapped in a small package in which consumers have a sense of belonging. The iPod is a way to enjoy vast amounts of music.

Apple’s introduction phase started slowly in 2001-2004 with sales between 100-200 thousand units per quarter. We can see their worst decision was lack of advertising in the early years. Apple expected word-of-mouth, considering this the single largest contributor to the first three years of the iPod’s struggle.  Apple’s advertising budget for their products has quadrupled for new product launches. The first change in the iPod was launched in 2002, the second generation iPod. IPods were compatible not only with the Mac operating systems but with Microsoft Windows operating systems; the next contributor was to see iPod succeed.

By Aug 2004 iPod sales began rose dramatically as it entered its growth phase. The iPod made from the fortune of Apple was the major turning point in the company growth.  Apple was constantly adding functions and features including color display, photo viewing capability video playing capability, improving battery life, improving the user interface, slimming down the player size, and increasing the storage capabilities.  They also introduced new models such as the iPod Mini which were cheaper and smaller in size and in storage capabilities making it affordable to more consumers. Next, they introduced the iPod Nano with acquired flash memory storage instead of hard disk.  They kept improving the iTunes counterpart making an abundance of deals with reluctant record companies. Apple was impacting the business market significantly enough and stopped pursuing new deals with more record companies. We know where the iPod stands, and that it is a remarkable product being sold at more than three hundred retail stores, online stores with various hardware and software sold.
