Smartphone Printing Apps for Media Professionals

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Most jobs within the field of media management will keep you on your toes. Whether it’s late breaking news, last-minute artwork changes, or adding lines to advertising copy – you need to be available at all times. Nowadays, media professionals are equipped with smartphones which give them the ability to work anywhere at any time.

However, a common problem they are faced with is the inability to connect their phone with a printer, making it difficult to obtain prints from their iPhone, Blackberry or Android. In order to accomplish this, they would have to transfer the data to a computer or connect their phone to the printer with a hard wire.

This problem can now be resolved with the help of iPhone, Blackberry and Android printing apps. These apps work on a Cloud-based system, which enables users to print from these devices without drivers or wires. Just send the document or image for printing and a reply code will be sent, which you will enter to release the documents.

Now you can connect directly with an office printer, or through any one of the 8,000 participating printers. Using this reliable application, media professionals can now obtain prints from Blackberry, iPhone and Android phones from nearly any location across the globe.

While many cell phones today rely on real time applications, the android phones operate on software using the more complicated operating system.

Iphone directly competes with the G1 in terms of web capabilities as both use Webkit to power the browser. One standout point of any android phone is its ability to do multiple applications at one time, unlike other cell phones. For someone who wants to do multi-task, the Android phones make a good choice.

Developers can use the Software Development Kit to develop applications for the Android phones. Modifications that can improve the system are constantly being developed. Additionally, no one manufacturer is associated with the Android cell phone. Different manufacturers can use the Android platform in their own innovative products, unlike the Iphone. Sprint and Toshiba, along with T-Mobile all have android cell phones in their product lines. Add to that list HTC, Samsung, At&T, and Motorola.

Android phones are know for their large screens and many different uses. Most users have to do a daily battery charge, but only because it has so many features that the users take advantage of on a regular basis. Being customizable is a big plus for the Android, although some Iphone users believe that interface is easy for the owner to figure out. Some Iphone users also prefer Iphone for music and movies, but the androids are great for everything else.

People love the apps and choices that android phones offer, and websites look like you are on a real computer when you are using the androids. Facebook looks great, and many people spend a lot of time on it. Currently, Android is leading the pack in the market of smart phones.

Changes to Victorian Road Rules that specifically target the use of
mobile phones and visual displays (like GPS devices); will take effect
from 9 November 2009. The new mobile phone rules have been revised,
allowing both the navigational (GPS) and audio/music functions of a
mobile phone to be used, provided the mobile phone is secured in a
commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle.
Mobile phones – Using a mobile phone while driving is prohibited,
except to make or receive a phone call or to use its audio/music
functions provided the phone:
•Is secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle, or

•Can be operated by the driver without touching any part of the phone.

•Using a phone as a GPS while driving is prohibited unless it is
secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle.

Further changes include the prohibition of Learner and P1 drivers from
using a mobile phone at all while driving and holding the phone
(whether or not engaged in a phone call), which includes resting the
mobile on the driver’s lap.
Visual display units – A driver must not drive a vehicle that has a
television receiver or a visual display unit operating if any part of
the screen is visible to the driver or is likely to distract another
driver. A driver can use a driver’s aid such as a navigation device
but it must be an integrated part of the vehicle design, or secured in
a commercially designed holder, which is fixed to the vehicle.
