Unveiled on March 2, the iPad 2 features many improvements over its older brethren. However, it remains to be seen if these improvements will be enough to keep Apple’s share  of the tablet PC market intact. Back in 2010, the first iPad was a major success with a global sales around 14.8 million items. The original iPad was so successful with the estimated of 75% of the tablet PC market are owned by Apple.

The iPad’s commercial success, has attracted a lot of competitors on the tablet PC market. With so many companies joining the tablet bandwagon and offering their version of the iPad killer, many are eager to see how the iPad 2 are going to compete against an improved competitor.

We made a review, a head to head comparison between Motorola Xoom that are considered to be the strongest competitor and iPad 2.

1. Processor

The iPad 2 is fitted with Apple’s dual-core 1GHz A5 chip, a marked improvement from the previous iPad. The A5 chip claimed to be 10 times better graphical performance than the old iPad. As of this writing, there is no report yet on RAM size but 512MB is quite a possibility.

Motorola Xoom are build with a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 CPU. At 1GB of RAM, this chip along with the Android 3.0 OS affords the Xoom to multi-task effortlessly.

Advantage – Xoom

2. Display

The iPad 2 has the same 9.7-inch backlit-LED IPS display that are similar to iPad 1, it’s fantastic because it’s the best in it’s class.

The Xoom has a standard 10.1-inch TFT display. Excellent for watching movies and browsing but does not offer the types of viewing angles we are accustomed to in the iPad.

Advantage -Apple iPad 2

Review of The Apple Ipad, 16Gb

ipad

Initially I had wanted an Amazon Kindle, not any old Kindle, I wanted the gusto in gadgets, I wanted the newest model, the largest model, and I wanted it to be in color. Sadly my search led me to blog after blog stating this desire of mine would not be ready till 2012, and that was just a guess.

I decided to check out the Nook, and from what I discovered VIA user reviews, the Nook was too new, and too lacking for me to even bother with.

That was when I got around to thinking about an Apple iPad. I didn’t need the latest and greatest, so I decided on the simple intro model, the 9 model containing 16GB of storage, and wifi. Just what I would need to download the Kindle APP and get busily reading on my new iPad. I had no idea just how addicting this device would be, and how much more I could do with it besides just catch up on a few books here and there. In fact I love the Apple iPad so much, that I imagine I will become one of those annoying Apple fan-boys that has to have all of the newest releases from Apple.

Why?

Well my friends, the best answer is simplicity.

I have never owned anything from Apple before. In fact I still prefer my PC for major workloads, but seriously when I am flopped in bed, and too lazy to hunker down in front of the PC I am grateful to have the iPad. For starters the device is small, and lightweight. Some have complained about the weight, but not once have I become affected by it, and this is coming from someone who has been toting the thing around religiously for days now.
